Tropical Islands in Germany

Tropical Islands is the unique tropical paradise throughout Europe with white sandy beaches, waterfalls tumbling into tranquil lagoons, a rainforest, several restaurants, shops and all manner of entertainments, protected from the freezing Brandenburg winter by the world’s largest self-supporting hall.

This artificial indoor tropical resort in the German countryside, was built in a repurposed airship hangar. The 194-million-cubic-foot structure was originally commissioned by CargoLifter AG as a hangar for a prototype airship . When the company went bankrupt in 2002, it sold the 351-foot-high hangar to a Malaysian company called Tanjong.

In its inside a small ecosystem with dozens of plants, sand beaches, lakes and waterfalls has been created, including bird sounds that are broadcast through skillfully disguised speakers.
